Setting up Google Assistant

How can I use Google Assistant with my Pebblebee device?

As of June 13th 2023 Google has shutdown 'Conversational actions', the service we used to connect the Pebblebee app with Google Assistant. We are currently working to continue the support for it and we appreciate your patience while we are doing so!

Make sure your Pebblebee account has been verified and that you’ve claimed your device.

Add a voice tag for your device

  1. Open the Pebblebee app
  2. On the Devices tab, click the device from your list.
  3. Once you are on the device screen, click on the Voice Tag section.
  4. Choose the option that best describes your device. This will be the name you will use when calling your device (It will be different than the name you gave to your device).
  5. Click to confirm.

Setup the Pebblebee Skill on the Google Assistant app

On your Android:
  1. Download the Google Assistant app.
  2. Tap on the icon on the bottom left corner.
  3. Tap on the light bulb icon on the top right corner.
  4. Click to "Explore more from Assistant".
  5. Search for "Pebblebee".
  6. Click on "Try it".

On your iOS:
  1. Download the Google Assistant app.
  2. Tap on the compass icon on the right bottom corner.
  3. Tap on the search icon and search for 'Pebblebee'.
  4. Tap on 'Link'.

  1. Login to Pebblebee using the same email address you used on the app.
  2. Input the verification code that Pebblebee emailed to you.
  3. Ask Google to find your device: “Ask Pebblebee to find my <voice tag>”.
  • "Hey Google, Ask Pebblebee to find my phone."
  • "Hey Google, Ask Pebblebee to find my keys."

Note for iOS users:

Google has recently changed a step on the Google Assistant set up and it may require you to enable your Personal results to be used with your iPhone/ iPad.

If when you try to use Pebblebee to locate your device this message shows up:

"To let me read out that information, turn on personal results in the Google Home app."

Please follow the steps:

This setting can be found on your Google Assistant app, you don't need the Google Home app.

  1. Open the Google Assistant app.
  2. Tap to open your profile (Top right corner where it shows your initial or picture).
  3. Scroll down and click on "Devices".
  4. On the Assistant Devices screen, select your iPhone or iPad.
  5. Switch the toggle "Personal results" to 'Off' (if already 'On'). Then switch it back to 'On'.
  6. Done! Come back to the main screen and try to Ask Pebblebee to find your items.

How did we do?
