Solve Error - This device is already claimed

Updated 5 months ago by Marina

There are a couple of reasons your device shows as Already Claimed when you try to add it to your account.

If you have previously used your device

The most common explanation for an "Already Claimed" device is that the device was already claimed on another account.

Devices are claimed to an email address, not the phone itself. That means if you have accidentally logged in using a different email address then the first time you used the app, the device will not show up in your account.

To solve this:

  1. Log out of the app.
  2. Try login in using other email addresses that you usually use. We are searching here for the first email account you used on the Pebblebee App.
  3. If you're unable to find the correct account, please check this article about regaing access to your already existing account.
  4. If you still need help, please contact our support team for additional help.

If you have never claimed your device before

If you believe that you are already using the right email and still cannot see your claimed devices.

We will guide you through some steps to check the MAC Address of your claimed Pebblebee device, so we can check on our internal system which accounts it is linked to.

You must have your Pebblebee device near you to proceed with this option.

Please follow this instruction:

On iOS
  1. Temporarily download & install this app called BLE Scanner to scan for Bluetooth devices. Download BLE Scanner app iOS.
  2. Run the app next to the device. A list of your Bluetooth devices should appear.
  3. With the app open and the device right next to it, briefly press the button on the Pebblebee device.
  4. Search for an item called "FNDR" for Finder 1.0 or Finder 2.0, "CARD" for the Black Card and "FND" for the found.
  5. Click "connect" to open the device information page.
  6. Take a screenshot of that screen and send that to support@pebblebee.com. The MAC address may be listed under "manufacturer data" and will begin with 0e0ea00.

On Android
  1. Temporarily install this app called BLE Scanner to scan for Bluetooth devices. Download BLE Scanner app Android
  2. Run the app next to the device. A list of your Bluetooth devices should appear.
  3. With the app open and the device right next to it, briefly press the button on the Pebblebee device.
  4. Search for an item called "FNDR" for Finder 1.0 and Finder 2.0, "CARD" for the Black Card or "FND" for the found.
  5. We are looking for the device’s unique identification number called MAC address. It will be listed on the first page under the device’s name and will begin with 0e0ea00.
  6. Take a screenshot of that first page and send it to support@pebblebee.com and explain why you want to unclaim that device. Our team will analyze your case and get back to you shortly.
