Troubleshooting Connection Issues with Apple Find MyUpdated 39 minutes ago
Use this guide if your Pebblebee device does not enter pairing mode, does not appear in Apple Find My, or displays an error during setup.
Start by identifying where the process stops:
The device does not respond: It does not beep or flash when you press its button.
The device responds but is not detected: It beeps and flashes, but does not appear on your iPhone.
The device is detected but setup fails: It appears in Apple Find My, but an error prevents setup from finishing.
Each situation requires different troubleshooting steps.
Before you begin
Confirm that:
Your Pebblebee model works with Apple Find My. Android-only models cannot connect to Apple Find My.
Your iPhone is updated to the latest available version of iOS.
Bluetooth is turned on.
Location Services are turned on.
Your iPhone has a stable Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
You are signed in to your Apple Account.
Your Pebblebee is close to your unlocked iPhone.
Only one unpaired Pebblebee device is nearby.
Your Pebblebee has sufficient battery power.
Do not connect your Pebblebee through Settings → Bluetooth. Find My accessories must be added from Apple Find My.
Important setup order: Set up Clip, Card, Tag, and LÔC8 with Apple Find My before adding them to the Pebblebee app. Halo is different and must be added to the Pebblebee app first.
Confirm that you are using the correct setup steps
For Clip, Card, Tag, and LÔC8:
Open the Apple Find My app.
Tap the + (plus) button.
Select Add Other Item.
Double-press the pairing button on your Pebblebee device.
Confirm that the device beeps and flashes white.
When your Pebblebee appears, select it.
Follow the on-screen instructions to name the item and register it to your Apple Account.
The button location varies by product. Check your product’s setup guide if you are unsure which button to press.
If you are setting up Halo
Halo uses a different process:
Add Halo to the Pebblebee app first.
Open Halo from your Pebblebee device list.
Under Locate, select Enable next to Search for your items.
Follow the instructions to connect it to Apple Find My.
See Set up your Halo with Apple Find My on iPhone.
If your Pebblebee does not beep or flash
If the device does not respond when you press its button:
Confirm that you are pressing the correct button.
Press the button firmly twice using a steady rhythm.
Try double-pressing slightly faster or slower.
Recharge the device if it has a rechargeable battery. If it uses a replaceable battery, confirm that the battery is not depleted.
If the device was previously disabled, press the button once and listen for the re-enable confirmation.
Try entering pairing mode again.
If the device remains unresponsive, follow its product-specific factory-reset instructions.
If your Pebblebee responds but does not appear
If the device beeps and flashes white but your iPhone does not detect it:
Confirm that Apple Find My is displaying the Add Other Item option.
Keep the Pebblebee next to your unlocked iPhone.
Make sure only one unpaired Pebblebee device is nearby.
Confirm that Bluetooth and Location Services are turned on.
Make sure your iPhone has a stable internet connection.
Close and reopen Apple Find My.
Go to Items → + → Add Other Item.
Double-press the Pebblebee button again.
Wait for the device to appear.
If it still does not appear, restart your iPhone and try again.
Check Apple Find My permissions and account settings
If your Pebblebee is still not detected:
Open Settings on your iPhone.
Go to Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Confirm that Location Services is turned on.
Select Find My.
Allow location access and turn on Precise Location.
Return to Settings and select your name.
Check for any message asking you to update or finish setting up your Apple Account.
Confirm that iCloud Passwords & Keychain is enabled.
Reopen Apple Find My and try again.
Apple provides additional settings guidance in How to add an AirTag or compatible Find My network accessory.
Check whether the device is already connected
Your Pebblebee may already be connected to:
Your Apple Account
A different Apple Account
Google’s Find Hub
Check the Items tab in Apple Find My to make sure the device is not already listed.
If it belongs to another person, that person must remove it from their Apple Account before you can set it up.
If it is connected to Google’s Find Hub, remove it from Google’s network and factory reset it before attempting Apple Find My setup.
A manual factory reset does not remove a device from someone else’s Apple or Google account.
If Apple Find My detects the device but displays an error
If your Pebblebee appears but setup does not finish:
Take a screenshot or write down the exact error message.
Close Apple Find My completely.
Restart your iPhone.
Open Apple Find My.
Return to Items → + → Add Other Item.
Put the Pebblebee back into pairing mode.
Try setup again.
Also confirm that your Apple Account has not reached Apple’s limit for Find My items. Items include Find My accessories, shared items, and some AirPods. Remove an unused item if Apple reports that no additional items can be added.
If you see “Could Not Continue”
The Could Not Continue error is more common with some older Pebblebee models.
Try the following:
Close Apple Find My completely.
Restart your iPhone.
If the Pebblebee appears in the Items tab, remove it from Apple Find My.
Listen for the automatic reset sound.
If it does not reset automatically, perform the manual factory reset for your product.
Re-enable the device if necessary.
Return to Items → + → Add Other Item.
Put the Pebblebee into pairing mode and try again.
If the error continues after resetting the device and restarting your iPhone, contact Pebblebee Support at [email protected]. Additional product-specific assistance may be required.
Reset the connection and try again
Use a factory reset when:
The device enters pairing mode but is never detected.
Setup repeatedly stops with an error.
The device was previously connected to another network.
Apple Find My shows an incomplete or old connection.
If the device appears in Apple Find My, remove it from the app first:
Open Apple Find My.
Select Items.
Select your Pebblebee.
Scroll down and select Remove Item.
Confirm the removal.
Keep the device nearby and listen for the automatic reset sound.
See Remove your device from Apple Find My.
If you do not hear the reset sound, follow the factory-reset guide for your specific Pebblebee product.
Important: Always remove a Pebblebee from Apple Find My before manually resetting it when possible. A manual reset alone does not remove it from your Apple Account.
Apple Find My setup succeeded, but the Pebblebee app does not connect
Apple Find My and the Pebblebee app manage separate connections.
